  • Poor service delivery

Hughesnet is the worst internet service I have ever had the displeasure of paying for! I am charged exorbitant prices i.e over one hundred dollars a month and then subjected to the fair access policy! In addition, the company fails to deliver on the upload speeds. I will switch ISP's as soon as another provider is available in my area. I plan on filing a complaint with the regulatory agency responsible for oversight of the provider. More...

  • Trapping customers for terrible service

I received my first bill from the company and it was not the price that was first end quoted to me. so when I called to cancel the service they told me that that it was one day after my trail period. I informed them that I just received the bill and it came one day after the trial but I should not be held accountable for them sending the bill after the trail that it should have been sent prior to the bill date not after the fact. I told them I felt like it was a trap to keep me with a company that I am not satisfied with. so now if I cancel on day after the trial when the sent the bill I... More...

  • Hughesnet TERRIBLE Customer Service

I am EXTREMELY UNHAPPY. I spoke with a customer service representative and felt we weren't communicating effectively. At this point, I wasn't angry as much as confused and simply wanted someone else to explain whom I could understand in a clearer way. This man REFUSED to transfer me several times!!! I have NEVER had this happen either in my jobs as a customer service employee or as a customer for ANY brand while seeking assistance. He said his name was Mike Morales and his supervisor's name was Gray Sanders but was so reluctant to give the names or transfer me that... More...

  • Hughesnet wins worst customer service!

If you need poor customer service, unfulfilled promises, empty promises then Hughesnet is for you. If you need internet service that is reliable look elsewhere. Hughesnet cannot provide reliable internet service. You will be locked into a 2 year agreement yet Hughesnet will not provide the service that is promised. Service is occasional and slow. Customer service personnel must be trained to be elusive and belligerent while providing nothing but stress. When a supervisor is requested you will be put on eternal hold then returned to the same person, no supervisor will talk with you... More...

Reliable... That's the opposite of Hughesnet. We got hughesnet a few years ago with the hope of a faster, more reliable internet service. Now, having been with Hughesnet for several years I can safely say that dialup is actually a more reliable option. Where can I begin. To start out with, if you run over your limited bandwidth, your account is "hard throttled" meaning that anything that is https secured will no longer work and anything else will load at a speed slower than dial up internet. The interesting thing, however, is that even with full bandwidth this... More...

  • Worst Customer Service EVER

My husband has called several times regarding this issue. Our services was installed at our new house shortly after we moved in. It was either late December 2014 or January 2015. We have not been able to use our service but may a handful of times. We have been told that a service person will come out to move the modem, etc. No one has come out. In fact one person came out last week to service it and said he had to put a call in because whoever installed it, installed it totally wrong. They did an awful job. We were at the point of frustration at paying 109.99 every month for NO... More...

Dial-up is better than Hughesnet. Total ripoff! if you try to watch any movies you will use up all you allotted time for the month then be throttled so that you r connection barely works!! that is unless you can stay up from 2am to 8am and use the bonus bytes!! Online techs barely speak Engllish! Promised a lower bill for first 4month of service NOT!! we were charged full price! took days on the phone trying to get it resoved and they never did refund the xtra $$ they charged us! • HughesNet Internet service

If you're considering a switch to HughesNet, DO NOT DO IT! Our Internet service is unreliable. We struggle to get YouTube or Netflix to work. When our Internet service went out completely, customer service would respond in SIX DAYS. Or wait, we could get a repair in two days for only $30, then the repair person called and could come at the scheduled time, but would be there in four days for only $30. We are stuck with a two year contract. More...

  • Hughesnet SCAMS people out of money!

I had to cancel my service (and it was terrible service to begin with) because I was moving. I knew I would have to return equipment so I called a Tech and specifically asked them what I would need to take with me to return to them later. I was told just the modem, and the small receiver box. I described both of them to the tech and he confirmed those were the only TWO items I would need to return. I specifically asked about the dish and he said the dish stayed and I did not need any additional items. I moved 12.5 hours away. I receive the return box to send them their items and inside it... • Beware of Hughesnet!!

Their sales department did not disclose they would be conducting a hard credit inquiry....days before we were to sign on our house. When I tried to resolve it, I got the biggest run around every. Sales said it was pre-install, pre-install said it was sales. Everyone condescendingly trying to tell me it wasn't a hard credit inquiry and would not effect my credit, even as I sat there staring at the credit report that showed other wise. Still hasn't been resolved. So I filed a complaint with their corporate (no reply yet), with BBB, and with the FCC. I also had to file a dispute with... More...

  • Hate hate hate Hughesnet

We live out where we have no other options but to get satellite internet. Hughesnet has so many customers that the bandwidth is always slow due to overuse. Sometimes I just need to download something and after I do, all my allowance FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH is used up so my account is throttled back to non-usable amount about a third of dial up. I usually run out of allowance two to three weeks before end of month so I cannot use the internet for two to three weeks out of the month. So I pay huge quantities of money for nothing. I would switch in a second if I could find another option. Again,... More...

  • Absolutely NO Customer Service is a terrible company. Their customer service department hasn't the first clue what customer service is or what it means. They were told not once, but THREE TIMES, that they were authorized to deal with ME even though my husbands name was on the account. They have disregarded this instruction every single time I have had to call them. We were deliberately lied to and misled about early termination and the fees associated, requested suspension of our account, routine fees and costs associated. I have Hughes net internet and am not satisfied at all. I have had dial up faster and when I try to contact support it just loads and loads. I have no problems with my Sat. TV but my internet goes down every little cloud cover and does not work for days. I still have to pay even if it don't work right. I cant even make contact with them on the internet to complain. • Hughes Net interent service Small business owner

9 1/2 year customer. I was on the unlimited data program. All of a sudden it just stops working. Hughes net will no longer support the system I have. I paid a local service company to come out and verify my system is ok...still no signal. They have tried 30 times to switch me to the Gen 4 program and brag about faster service , but the amount of data they offer will not continue to run my business without unlimited. They basically forced me to discontinue the service since I don't want to pay 138 dollars a month for a plan I could only use 2/3 of a month. The speed has progressively... More...

I've seen dial up faster than this! I have the PowerMax, the highest plan and I get less than .5 Mbps. That's not all. When they installed the dish, they installed it right behind a tree and aimed it towards the tree. A TREE! Terrible company. Now I'm stuck with them because there is a 2 year payment contract. I had no choice but to cancel my service after only a few months because I couldn't receive the signal on my satellite. You sent out a technician to see what was going on. He told me, and put in his report that I wasn't receiving a signal because the tree was blocking it. The first technician installed the satellite in the winter and the signal was shooting between the branches. We had a perfect signal for a few months and had no problems. But now that its warmer and the leaves grew in, the signal was being blocked and we no longer had internet. When the technician came to check... More...

Had an issue after several months of having service. Could not get on the internet via my tower. Had to do with an issue with my OS. Would have actually taken them less than three minutes to help me fix the issue (that is how long it took me when I got on line elsewhere and downloaded the walk through fix). • Worst Internet Service Imaginable

When HughesNet says "up to 10 Mbps" what they mean is .5 Mbps, except from the hours of 2am to 7 am. We used HughesNet at our cabin home, and virtually every time we would visit, a great deal of time was consumed with technical support. In addition to slow service, consumers need to be sure to read the fine print with HughesNet: you are only able to use a certain amount of Internet data each month, and when you exceed that, you have to purchase pricey restore tokens to regain service. In the end, this is the most expensive "service" available. We found another... More...

I called hugesnet just about an inquiry of how much a modem cost (of course didn't get a representative that spoke English to well), I told them I would have to think about it and get back to them. Next thing I see is that they charged my debit card over $300+! So when I tried to get this resolved ASAP, that wasn't going to happen. • Unreliable, and they try and rip you off every chance they get

I signed up with Hughes Net because I could get a business class install in order to VPN into work and well my choices were limited since we are rural. (This was Pre Gen 4.) First the installer took it upon himself to install residental service, even though I asked for business, when I asked Hughes to change it they wanted fees for upgrading and so I was stuck. I paid for a higher package of 2 MB speed. OH but when you VPN they throttle you so anytime I worked if I was lucky I got .5 MB. Hughesnet is the WORST internet survice I've ever delt with. The only reason we got Hughesnet was so we could pull through movies on the internet where we live. They tell you that they are faster, better and cheaper. What they don't tell you is that there is an excruciatingly long delay as the signal is passed between your home and the satellite. It may run at the stated speeds (it may not!) for a brief split second after the long delay, but the resulting transmission speed is actually slower than DSL...even slower than using your 3G cellphone as a hotspot!
